Summer school courses are planned based on historical enrollment needs for students at those sites. As such, the first stage of registration includes zones to ensure those students have access to the seats that were built with them in mind. However, once those students have had enough time to access those seats, we will open registration up to any division student, allowing all students in the Division to register in any available classes across all zones. This shift will happen mid-May 2026. Please check back for more information.
What if I registered somewhere else and now see that a spot is open somewhere more desirable?
Students can absolutely transfer with a $60 transfer fee.
What if I don't want to spend the $60 transfer fee and just want to wait until mid-May?
You would run the risk of those spaces being filled by students pre-enrolled for that zone and you ending up with no space at all. Registrations and withdrawals happen and the webpage is updated moment to moment, so students can always check back and find adjusted availability each day.
Grade 9 students planning to take Physical Education 10 or CALM are advised to complete both courses, as they are each 9 day courses. Many Division high schools schedule these courses together and there may be limited opportunities to register in either course separately during the school year. If a student only does one through summer school, they will need to pick up the other during the regular school year or during next year’s summer school session. Each of these classes are three credit opportunities.
Grade 9 students interested in core subjects are able to take either Science 15 or Math 15, which are both prep classes for those subjects. Students who have perhaps struggled with Science or Math in the past, or those who just want to lay a solid foundation before they begin high school are invited to register in one of these classes this summer. Students who take prep classes often feel better prepared for the next stages of learning in that subject. Each of these classes are five credit opportunities.
All courses open to Grade 9 students are delivered in-person this year.
Students are required to write diploma exams in all 30-level courses. Diploma Examinations run the first two weeks of August.
