School Fees

In September 2019, the provincial government made some changes to the legislation that sets out how school divisions charge school fees. Our school fee schedule reflects these changes.

The school fee schedule below includes every fee that might be charged, for every grade. It is important to know that you may not have to pay for every item. In September, your school will tell you your fees and explain what each fee is for.

FEES & MATERIALS:

When you register, you are required to pay all applicable fees for each course or provide documents that confirm payment.

Fall 2025 & Winter 2026 is open to:

Students who are under 20 years old on September 1, 2025

FREE TUITION

  • Program fee: $75 non-refundable

Criteria:

  • Open to current Edmonton Public School students, or students whose last school attended was an Edmonton Public School.
  • As Metro Evening/Weekend courses are supplementary to regular daytime EPSB programming, there are restrictions on how many courses current EPSB students can take with Metro. These restrictions help us support many students throughout the Division:
    • Students can take one class each semester: one from Q1 or Q2 or S1; then one from Q3 or Q4 or S2. For instance, it is possible to take a S1 and Q3 class, but not a Q1 and Q2 class (same semester).
    • Students cannot repeat a course within the school year. For instance, if you take Math 30-1 with Metro in Q2, you cannot access that class again with Metro this school year.

If you need more courses than what Metro allows, or to discuss your graduation plan, please speak with your primary high school to coordinate access to daytime programming.
  • All students are responsible for ensuring they are eligible for the course in which they register. Students who are not eligible because of missing prerequisite or any of the above restrictions will be removed from the course and forfeit the (non-refundable) $75 program fee.

COURSE CHANGES

Choose courses very carefully. Once classes start, it is difficult to transfer courses. A $60 transfer fee per course is charged for a student-requested transfer. There is no charge for transfers made in consultation with a Metro counsellor or administrator. Call 780.428.1111. for transfer information.

Cancellations

Metro reserves the right to cancel any course. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by Metro. Refunds take up to three weeks for processing through Edmonton Public Schools Financial Services.

Withdrawals

If you submit a withdrawal form before the start of the third class of a course, 100% of the tuition will be refunded. The $75 program fee is non-refundable. If you submit a withdrawal before the start of the fifth class of a course, 50% of the tuition will be refunded. The $75 program fee is non-refundable. No refunds will be issued after the start of the fifth class of a course. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal. Refunds may take up to three weeks to process.
