Self-Directed Programs

Earn your diploma or upgrade your courses from home!

Self-directed programs are a convenient way for students to fit school into their busy schedules and work independently at home. Self-directed learning is a great alternative to online learning allowing students to take their own pace.

Students work via correspondence modules independently and submit assignments regularly. There is access to a teacher advisor, however, the program does require large self-motivation and existing knowledge.

All assignments must be submitted by a certain date to meet the year-end deadline. Please confirm this date when registering. Students must write a supervised final exam and diploma exam (if applicable) in the course(s) in which they are registered.

Self-directed learning at Metro is open to students 20 years of age or older on September 1 of the current school year. If you are under the age of 20, please contact Argyll Centre at 780.465.1299 or find your nearest location of The Learning Store to learn more about your options.

Due to a large increase in enrollment in our self-directed courses, registration is now closed. Registration will begin again on January 15, 2021.
