High School Credit Information


FEES & MATERIALS: IN-CLASS PROGRAMS

When you register, you are required to pay all applicable fees for each course or provide documents that confirm payment.

Students under 20 years of age on Sept. 1 of the current school year:
FREE TUITION
Program fee: $40 non-refundable
Refundable Textbook Deposit: $100 (for some classes)

Students 20 years of age or older on Sept. 1 of the current school year
5-credit course: $489 tuition
Program fee: $40 non-refundable
Refundable Textbook Deposit: $100 (for some classes)

International students:

5-credit course: $1024 tuition
Program fee: $40 non-refundable
Refundable Textbook Deposit: $100 (for some classes)
Diploma exam fee: $50 (payable to Alberta Education)

Refundable Textbook Deposit:
Textbooks are required for some classes. Textbooks will be added to your shopping cart during your class registration. Textbooks will be distributed on the first class.

Upon the satisfactory return of the textbook you will receive a refund of $100 for the textbook deposit. Students who pay by cheque or cash will receive a cheque refund – no cash refunds are available.

Workbooks, Manuals & Materials:
Some courses require a workbook, manual or additional materials. Various charges apply. Visit our website or call 780.428.1111 for more information.

FEES & MATERIALS: SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING

Students 20 years of age or older on Sept. 1 of the current school year:
5-credit course: $489 tuition

The $150 fee for self-directed learning courses covers the cost to purchase the module packages.

Students will be notified when the correspondence materials are available for pick-up from Metro Continuing Education (7835 76 Avenue) between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING REQUIREMENTS

Students work on modules independently and submit assignments regularly. All assignments must be submitted by by a certain date to meet the year-end deadline. Please confirm this date when registering.  Students must write a supervised final exam and diploma exam (if applicable) in the course(s) in which they are registered.

COURSE CHANGES

Choose courses very carefully. Once classes start, it is difficult to transfer courses. A $40 transfer fee per course is charged for a student-requested transfer. There is no charge for transfers made in consultation with a Metro counsellor or administrator. Call 780.428.1111. for transfer information.

Cancellations

Metro reserves the right to cancel any course. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by Metro. Refunds take up to three weeks for processing through Edmonton Public Schools Financial Services.

Withdrawals

If you submit a withdrawal form before the start of the third class of a course, textbook deposit and 100% of the tuition will be refunded. The $40 program fee is non-refundable. If you submit a withdrawal before the start of the fifth class of a course, textbook deposit and 50% of the tuition will be refunded. The $40 program fee is non-refundable. No refunds will be issued after the start of the fifth class of a course. The $100 textbook deposit (if applicable) is refunded upon satisfactory return of the textbook. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal. Refunds may take up to three weeks to process.
