Strong relationships at work and in families, communities and organizations thrive on the ability to talk openly and deal with high stakes, emotional and controversial topics and situations. There are three ways to approach difficult situations: avoid, face and handle poorly or face and handle well. Discover the core of every difficult situation and identify practical strategies for safe, respectful and direct communication. Leave with ideas on how to establish and maintain strong relationships, make decisions based on your values and be clear about what you can and cannot do.

Research indicates that people spend approximately half of their waking hours thinking about something other than what is going on in the present moment—and this mind-wandering leads to feelings of unhappiness and lack of focus. Fortunately, mindfulness practice helps us bring our attention back to the "here and now". In this session, you will learn what mindfulness is, how it is practiced, how to integrate it into your professional life, as well as how it connects to overall well-being. Mindfulness can support individuals in savouring the moment and navigating challenges. Short meditations will be discussed and practiced throughout the session.
