Coronavirus information for Metro students
As a result of the challenges and limitations that come with this method of delivery, a number of changes have been made to this year's Summer School programming. Due to the current restrictions of COVID 19, Edmonton Public Schools has made the decision to move all Summer School courses online.Learn More
On March 17, the Alberta Government declared a state of emergency under the Public Health Act. The decision means that all schools, childcare centres, and other programming that takes place inside Edmonton Public Schools is closed.
Due to new public health measures related to COVID-19, our office is closed to customers. Please contact Metro through online chat, by phone at 780-428-1111 or email email@example.com. If phoning, please leave a message and Customer Service will return your call within one business day.
In alignment with the Alberta Government’s direction, we would like to give the following updates on Metro’s programs:
Our classes do not follow the typical block 1-4 schedule so our night school roll-out will be a bit different with teachers releasing their first learning materials according to the following schedule:
Monday / Wednesday classes – Materials will be released on Wednesday, April 1 between 6:30pm – 9:00pm. Teachers will be online at this time to connect with their students and answer questions online.
Tuesday / Thursday classes – Materials will be released on Thursday, April 2 between 6:30pm – 9:00pm. Teachers will be online at this time to connect with their students and answer questions online.
Saturday classes – Materials will be released on Saturday, April 4 between 9:00am – 1:30pm. Teachers will be online at this time to connect with their students and answer questions online.
Please note that at this time, all grade 12 diploma exams have been cancelled.
Your patience is appreciated as we all adjust to this new method of course delivery. We encourage all students to check SchoolZone and Google classroom on a regular basis for program updates. We also ask that you confirm your email and phone contact is up to date to ensure important communication from Metro is received. If you need to update your contact information, please update your student profile online or contact Metro by phone at 780-428-1111 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Metro Continuing Education is introducing online summer camps in response to the special circumstances we’re living in. Our goal is to provide a platform to help campers connect to their peers and community, and learn through engaging activities and experiences.
Though summer day camps are included in the Alberta Government’s relaunch strategy, due to the COVID-19 recommendations that are still in place, we do not believe we would be able to provide the same high quality, hands-on programming we originally intended with our in-person camps. The health and safety of our students, families, community partners and staff continues to be our top priority.
Due to the current restrictions of COVID 19, Edmonton Public Schools has made the decision to move all Summer School courses online. Metro is dedicated to offering a high quality program to our Division students. Learn more about Summer School 2020.
Edmonton Public Schools knows that our families, students and staff are concerned about coronavirus. All families are encouraged to stay updated on the latest information about coronavirus from Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services and the Public Health Agency of Canada. The health and safety of our students, families and staff is our top priority. More information will be shared as it becomes available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
