Mental Health Law for Caregivers

When an adult family member has lost capacity or needs treatment due to a mental illness, it’s important to know which laws come into play. This class will give you an overview of the theory and the practical reality of the laws that may apply to issues such as involuntary confinement, confidentiality and disclosure of information, substitute decision making (for health care and financial matters), income support and estate planning. You will be invited to discuss real-life situations.
