Community Leagues

Bringing neighbours together

Metro Continuing Education has teamed up with Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues to help bring neighbours together and foster the power of community. Together, we can add capacity to Edmonton’s amazing community leagues and bring your member’s creative ideas to life using an asset based, co-creation model.

We are looking forward to meeting you virtually, in your community!

How can your league get involved?

Contact Julia Dalman at julia.dalman@epsb.ca to set up an initial orientation meeting and discuss what is possible and ideas that your league would like to collaborate on or needs support implementing.

Pathways to Collaboration

  • Offer a specially curated Metro Continuing Education course in your community:
Bring members a unique and memorable relationship building experience. Explore a collection of courses that Metro has offered in the past including cooking, art, do-it-yourself, health and wellness, languages, personal finance, and more! Click one of the past adult continuing education publications below or view past publications here.
  • Collaborate with the Metro team to support local leaders within your community:
This pathway will add support and capacity to initiatives that celebrate the local talents already present in your neighborhood. Perhaps you know a great gardener? Someone who has created a NET zero home? A local historian with stories to share? We can help steward initiatives that will help neighbors get to know one another and learn some skills in the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost to the programs?
Metro Continuing Education operates on a cost recovery model.

Abundant Community Edmonton is already doing something like this asset based model, is this different?
This collaboration is one way to support the efforts of Abundant Community Edmonton (ACE) in your neighbourhood. For example: your block connector has been hearing that people would like to create a tool library or create welcome packages for new neighbours. We can support your ACE team to help organize the logistics and avoid volunteer burnout.

How can you support leagues with marketing?
We have a marketing team that can assist with posters, event or course images for joint Metro and Community League programs, as capacity allows.

Do you support recreation programming?
Yes! We have a wide range of recreation programs and instructors available to choose from. Browse one of Metro’s past collections of recreational opportunities listed under the Health & Wellness category.
