About Us….

Edmonton Public Schools Metro Continuing Education can trace its origins to the night school for adults offered by Edmonton Public Schools in 1891. Courses in Basic English, academic, business, technical and home economics were added, together with programs for Children, Youth and Parents. In more recent years, we have introduced a selection of learning opportunities in academic, English as a Second Language, and unique general interest programs.

Over the years, our community learning programs have had many identities from Extension Services to Continuing Education to Metro Continuing Education. Our constant has been the continual service of the learning needs of the Edmonton community.

Metro Continuing Education

The name Metro Continuing Education, launched in 2004, reflects our commitment to serving the community, the diversity of learning choices we offer, and the quality of instruction we provide. Our logo represents the many paths of learning – some students have a specific, short-term goal in mind, others choose a path with many more options. We pride ourselves in our continued ability to meet the diverse needs of our community.

Program Areas

Metro Continuing Education offers courses and programs in the following areas:
  • Academic Success Programs for children and youth of all ages, and high school credit courses for adults
  • Adult Continuing Education Programs

We are continually developing new programming in each of these areas in step with community need.
