Edmonton Public Schools Metro Continuing Education can trace its origins to the night school for adults offered by Edmonton Public Schools in 1891. Over the years, courses in English as a Second Language, academics, business, computers and personal interest were added, together with programs for youth and adults.

Today, Metro still offers courses and programs for people of all ages with our three program areas:

• Academic Success Programs provide part-time evening or weekend high school upgrading for students and adult learners, Brain Booster diploma exam preparation, Cool School for elementary and junior high students and junior high and high school enrichment courses.
• Adult Continuing Education courses provide adult learners with hundreds of daytime, evening and weekend courses for personal enrichment and career advancement. Metro also offers Custom & Corporate Training.
• The English Language Institute provides English instruction, through a variety of programs, to hundreds of newcomers to Canada.
